Aquacel uses hydrofiber technology to maintain a moist wound environment which supports wound healing. Convatec Aquacel is available with and without ionic silver depending on the needs of the wound. Aquacel is engineered to work with moderate to highly exuding wounds and lowers the risk of peri-wound maceration. Aquacel Ag and Aquacel Extra reduces wound pain as well as pain during dressing changes. Express Medical Supply offers Aquacel by the individual sheet or by the box. The dressing is stitch bonded for extra strength and offers reliable absorbency. AQUACEL Ag Extra fights infection with ionic silver by killing infection causing bacteria associated with wounds. AQUACEL ribbon dressing with strengthening fiber is available with and without ionic silver and can be used to pack deep wounds. The hydrofiber fibers swell, locking away wound fluid. AQUACEL foam has a soft absorbent foam pad and a gentle silicone adhesive that adheres to the healthy skin surrounding the wound bed.
Duoderm is an adhesive tapered border dressing that is water vapor permeable which creates a moist wound environment. Duoderm dressings can be worn as a cover dressing over Aquacel Ag Extra and Aquacel Extra. Sterile hydrocolloid bandages by Duoderm improve healing rates and reduce infection. The border thins at the edges to prevent roll up and increase wear time.
Before applying a wound dressing, you should use a wound cleanser to clean the wound thoroughly and remove any debris or contaminates. By cleaning the wound, you will cut down on infections which supports wound healing. The antiseptic wound cleanser comes in an easy to use spray bottle so that you do not have to touch the wound and risk further contamination.
When applying any type of adhesive to the skin, it is important to first use Skin Prep Protective Barrier Wipes. Skin prep spray and skin prep pads prepare the skin for adhesive bandages. They create a protective skin barrier to repel irritants while still allowing the skin to breathe. There are no-sting alcohol free skin prep formulas that can be used on irritated skin. For additional information, please read our blog on how to use skin prep.
