Medi Stocking Care Instructions
Wash stockings before wearing them for the first time
Suggested Washing Solution Products:
Medi-Care Wash, Wisk, ERA, ALL, Ivory Snow.
These agents help prolong the life of your garments and help maintain the prescribed pressure.
Washing Instructions:
Wash daily in warm water (the temperature for hand-washing dishes) to prevent a build-up of skin oils, which can break down the fabric. Using warmer water will also create better fabric "memory" so that your stockings will retain their shape and support. Rinse with warm water.
Squeeze to remove excess water. DO NOT roll in a towel or allow the stockings to come in contact with a terry cloth, as the fibers can become embedded in the stocking fabric and cause spandex breakage. Do not wring or twist.
Drying Instructions:
Garments not containing silicone top bands may be machine dried on the “air dry” cycle only. Lay flat or hang to dry away from sunlight or direct heat. DO NOT machine dry flat knit garments or garments with silicone top bands.
Helpful Hints:
If thigh high stockings have silicone, scrub them with a soft brush such as a toothbrush, about every two weeks to remove contamination.
Body oils shorten the life of the stocking. Mediven recommends purchasing a minimum of 2 pair of stockings at a time. It is also suggested that stocking should be cleaned and washed daily to prolong the life of the sock.
Oil-based creams, ointments, and petroleum products will shorten the life of the stocking by breaking down the spandex fibers that provide the needed compression. Mediven suggest applying lotions at the end of the day after stockings have been removed.
