Enabling Independence: Aids for Daily Living for Seniors and the Disabled.
Daily living aids are medical supplies that help a person with limited mobility accomplish everyday tasks around the home or workplace and make life easier. Some examples of these include shower chairs, canes, two handled cups, transfer boards, and more that help to make daily tasks easier. Express Medical Supply carries a variety of independent living aids to help people safely increase their freedom.
Bathroom Aids:
Bathroom aids make personal care easier allowing you to shower and use the toilet independently. Products like Magic Bullet suppositories and Fleet enemas help produce healthy bowel movements. Mattress covers protect beds from accidents. Bariatric commode chairs can be used bedside, are easy to put together, and have a 650 lb weight capacity. We also have bowel stimulators to relieve constipation. Shower chairs make it easier to bathe without risking falls. Some shower chairs have commode openings for people with incontinence. Shower chairs are available with and without backs depending on your needs. Commodes are equipped with removable buckets and commode opening seats so they can be used bedside if transferring to a toilet is difficult. You will need to measure your bathroom shower to make sure the shower chair or commode will fit in the area it will be used.
Mobility Aids:
Mobility aids are medical supplies that help a person move across a room or transfer from their wheelchair to their bed or car. Rollators and walkers can be used to help maintain balance while walking and to make it easier to stand up from a seated position. Tub transfer benches help you move from your wheelchair to the inside of a bathtub without having to step up and into a tub. Tubs and showers can be wet and slick, but tub transfer benches help you avoid dangerous falls. Gait belts are worn around the waist to help a care giver hold onto a patient to help the patient walk and to help guide them if they start to slip or fall. Transfer boards come in a wide variety of sizes to help make transfers easier and safer. And hospital socks with non-slip grip can prevent dangerous falls on slippery surfaces.
Kitchen Aids:
Eating and drinking aids help increase independence at meal time. Products like two handled mugs provide more control for people with dexterity problems. Weighted utensils help people with hand tremors eat without help by helping them balance their spoon or fork. Therafin makes weighted utensil sets as well as hard coated spoons to help stop damage to teeth from biting down or hitting teeth. And adult reusable bibs offer full chest and lap protection.
Dressing Aids:
Dressing aids are designed to help fasten buttons and put on shoes and shirts. Long handled shoe horns and sock aids make it easy to put on socks and shoes without having to bend over or lift your foot up.
