Medline Sterile 100% Cotton Woven Gauze Sponges are essential for wound care, offering a versatile and absorbent option for a wide range of medical needs. These sterile sponges are made from 100% cotton and meet USP Type VII standards, making them ideal for wound dressings, wound packing, and general wound care.

  • High Absorbency: 12-ply thickness for effective fluid absorption and protection.
  • C-Fold Design: Minimizes loose threads and lint for a cleaner wound environment.
  • Debris-Free Packaging: Strictly controlled manufacturing and easy-open envelopes ensure the sponges remain sterile until use, reducing the risk of contamination.
  • Versatile Use: Ideal for covering wounds, absorbing exudate, and protecting surgical sites.
  • Single-Use Only: These gauze sponges should not be reused to prevent infection and cross-contamination.

How to Apply Medline Sterile 100% Cotton Woven Gauze Sponges

  1. Wash Hands and Prepare the Area:
    • Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water or use hand sanitizer.
    • Clean the wound with a sterile wound cleanser or saline solution to remove debris and reduce the risk of infection.
  2. Apply the Gauze:
    • Gently place the sterile gauze sponge directly over the wound.
    • For deeper wounds, loosely pack the sponge into the wound to absorb drainage and protect the tissue.
    • If using as a primary dressing, ensure it fully covers the wound.
  3. Secure the Dressing:
    • Use medical tape, a bandage, or a cohesive wrap to hold the gauze in place without restricting blood flow.
    • If using for wound packing, cover it with a secondary dressing to keep it secure and clean.
  4. Monitor and Replace as Needed:
    • Change the gauze dressing as directed by a healthcare professional or whenever it becomes saturated or soiled.
    • Never reuse the same gauze sponge, as this can lead to infection.

Example Use: For a minor cut, place the gauze over the wound to absorb blood and prevent contaminants from entering. For a post-surgical incision, gently pack the gauze into the wound to prevent fluid buildup and support the healing process.
