Topical Antifungals

Antifungal cream is used in the treatment of fungal infections and relieves itching, redness and irritation in the affected skin. Over-the-counter antifungals are used for several types of fungal skin infections, including forms of ringworm like athlete’s foot (tinea pedis), jock itch (tinea crusis) and other external yeast and nail infections. The best treatment for you will depend on where the infection is located and personal preference for a cream, powder or ointment. Incontinence-associated dermatitis (IAD) should be treated only with an antifungal barrier cream that is specifically designed for this sensitive area, such as Coloplast Baza antifungal cream. You can help clear the infection more quickly by frequently washing hands before and after using a topical antifungal as well as keeping the affected area clean and dry.

Miracle of Aloe makes aloe-based creams and lotions that repair dry, callused and cracked skin while providing soothing relief from fungal irritation. Miracle of Aloe also makes Miracure Antifungal treatment, which is safe for diabetics and ideal for treating fungus feet and under and around toenails. Their moisturizing creams are great for rehydrating skin as it becomes dry and flaky when healing from a fungal rash. Miracle creams for feet and heels are very popular because they are formulated to quickly heal and protect each specific area of the body.

Perineal barrier cream products are used to treat and prevent skin irritation related to incontinence. Barrier creams form a protective moisture barrier over the skin that seals out excess moisture while maintaining an optimal healing environment. Excess moisture can cause the skin to become macerated and damaged from even light friction or pressure. Using an anti-fungal barrier cream or ointment can prevent an incontinence rash or treat existing perineal dermatitis.

Sween cream moisturizes dehydrated skin and relieves itching, flakiness and discomfort from minor skin irritations. Coloplast manufactures several types of Sween creams and lotions with unique ingredients that are designed to treat varying levels of skin dryness. Using a skin protectant cream with emollients is highly recommended for anyone with chronically dry skin. Sween 24 Cream is an everyday moisturizing body cream with a skin protectant that only needs to be applied once a day for 24-hour protection.

Preventing fungal infections in the feet by keeping them moisturized is especially important for diabetics. Moisturizing between the toes, however, can create conditions that may lead to a fungal infection. Our diabetic foot care guide has more helpful tips and advice on how to protect and care for diabetic feet.
