Foley Catheter Holder

Foley catheter holders are designed to secure the catheter tube so that it is not accidently pulled. Tugging on the catheter can not only be painful, but can cause bladder spasms or urethral trauma. The foley catheter can even become dislodged. Foley catheter holders prevent these issues and are available in a variety of styles including adhesive patches, anchor pads, and leg straps. These products are worn on the thigh to hold the catheter tubing in the proper position.

One option to hold your foley catheter in place is an adhesive patch. This product is made from a patch of flexible material with skin-friendly adhesive on the back. The top of the patch has a small piece of velcro on it, along with a connected tab. The tab has a strip of velcro on the end as well. The tubing is placed on top of the patch and the tab is looped around the tubing. The two velcro strips fasten to one another to hold the tubing in the proper position. This catheter patch works with all diameters of tubing thanks to the adjustable design. The velcro also allows you to undo and re-fasten the loop multiple times, unlike standard medical tape which would lose its adhesive properties.

Another type of foley holder is an anchor pad, which is made by Bard Statlock. This style has an adhesive backing like the patches mentioned above. However, the thing that differentiates the anchor pad from a patch is the plastic clamp on top. Instead of having a fabric loop with a velcro closure, the anchor pad has a plastic clamp that holds the catheter tubing in place. Simply place the tubing under the clamp and gently snap the clamp shut. Another great feature of a Statlock is that the clamp swivels. This keeps the tubing even more secure as you move your body. Statlock stabilization devices are available in several different sizes and materials to best suit your needs.

If you have an adhesive allergy or fragile skin, a catheter leg band may be a more suitable choice for you. These adhesive-free leg bands are made of soft, elasticized fabric that is gentle against skin. They also have a velcro closure that allows you to adjust the fit based on the size of your thigh. The catheter tubing is held in place with a small self-gripping tab. All of the catheter leg straps we sell are latex free and most can be machine washed.
