Ostomy bag filters are designed to release gas from the ostomy pouch and help absorb odors. The filters automatically eliminate gas, preventing the bag from swelling up. Pouch swelling is also know as ballooning, and it can be uncomfortable and inconvenient. Ostomy filters also contain ingredients like charcoal or carbon that absorb odors and stop them from escaping the pouch. Some ostomy bags have filters built in, while others do not. If you use a bag that has a built-in filter, you will still need to replace the filter when it becomes soiled.

Colo Majic is a popular brand of ostomy pouch liners. This product is designed to be used with a 2-piece closed ostomy pouch. The liner is placed inside the ostomy bag to collect output, so output does not drain into the ostomy bag itself. When the pouch liner becomes about halfway full, all you have to do is remove the liner and discard it. The benefit of this is that you do not need to throw an entire ostomy bag away. This makes pouch liners very cost effective, since a liner is less expensive than an ostomy pouch. See our blog for more information on Colo Majic ostomy liners.

Ostomy closure clamps are plastic clips used alongside drainable ostomy bags that do not have an integrated closure mechanism. The clamp is a separate item that creates a tight seal at the bottom of the pouch. Ostomy clamps can also be used to seal the bottom of a colostomy irrigation sleeve. Ostomy clips are available in straight or curved shapes. The curved design follows the contours of the body.
