What is Tegaderm?

Tegaderm is a brand of transparent film dressings made by 3M. These wound dressings are ideal for minor burns, scrapes, and incisions. Tegaderm can also be used to cover IV sites and secure feeding tubes.

Is Tegaderm waterproof?

Yes, Tegaderm dressings create a waterproof barrier over the skin. The clear film blocks out dirt and contaminants, helping to prevent infection. These dressings are designed to stay on while showering, bathing, and during water activities.

Tegaderm is made from a flexible material that blocks moisture out while allowing oxygen in so the skin can breathe. These dressings conform to areas like fingers, toes, heels, and more. Some Tegaderm dressings have a frame around the edge that is removed once the dressing has been applied. The frame makes it easy to place the dressing in the correct spot. Tegaderm bandages are sterile, latex free, and hypoallergenic.
