Coloplast Baza is a line of products that help cleanse and moisturize the skin, as well as treat topical infections. Baza's no-rinse cleansing solution is targeted towards those with limited mobility who cannot shower traditionally. The no-rinse body wash disinfects and moisturizes all in one step. Coloplast Baza items are also beneficial to those with incontinence. If the skin is exposed to urine or feces for a prolonged period of time, rashes and irritation can follow. Applying a barrier cream protects the skin from wetness and prevents irritation by forming a non-permeable layer on the skin.

Barrier creams with antifungal ingredients are also available. Express Medical Supply carries several other antifungal products to treat skin infections, including creams and powders from Medline Remedy. Antifungals contain ingredients such as zinc and miconazole to treat athlete's foot, dermatitis, ringworm, and more. A cream is a great choice if you're experiencing a burning or itching sensation, because it is moisturizing and soothes the skin. Antifungal powder is ideal for the feet because it absorbs moisture, treats the infection, and is less messy. We also sell brush-on liquid treatments specifically designed for nails and cuticles.

Although some barrier creams are used to treat skin infections, they do not sterilize the skin like an antiseptic skin cleanser does. Antiseptics solutions such as benzalkonium chloride, povidone iodine, and alcohol are designed to kill bacteria on contact. Benzalkonium chloride, also called BZK, can be used to clean wounds and disinfect the skin before inserting a catheter. Using alcohol on open wounds can delay healing, so they should only be used on unbroken skin. Alcohol wipes are also great for disinfecting medical equipment. Povidone iodine can safely clean wounds, but it can be messy. Therefore, it may not be the best option when it comes to prepping the skin for catheter insertion.

Using PDI Sani Hands wipes is another way to sanitize the skin or surfaces around the house. These antiseptic cloths contain alcohol to kill 99% of germs, while aloe and vitamin E prevent the skin from drying out. The texture of the wipes helps remove dirt better than gel hand sanitizer alone. Express Medical Supply carries individually wrapped hand sanitizing wipes, which are convenient to take on the go. PDI wipes are perfect for those who are limited to the bed or when soap and water is not available.
