Rusch MMG Red Rubber Closed System Catheter is a sterile self-contained catheter and collection bag system. The 16" pre-lubricated catheter can be used by both male and female anatomy. The catheter has an introducer tip that is protected by a cap guard. Once the guard is removed the catheter can be inserted. The introducer tip extends the sterile field so the first 1.5 cm of the urethra is bypassed. This helps cut down on UTIs because the catheter is not transporting that bacteria up the urethra and into the bladder. This closed system helps cut down on urinary tract infections. This is a red rubber catheter and should not be used by someone with a latex allergy. Red rubber does contain latex. Rusch MMG closed system catheters use a special break-away funnel that can be used for easy urine sampling. The urine collection bag can be emptied or discarded depending on your environmental needs.
