Alcohol Free Means Sting Free

Eakin Cohesive paste is the newest addition to the Convatec Eakin family of products. It is a new ostomy stoma paste that is alcohol free which means it is sting free so it won't hurt tender and sensitive skin. Eakin ostomy paste is quick and easy to use and unlike other ostomy stoma pastes it won't harden, Eakin paste remains soft and pliable. The fact that the Eakin paste remains pliable means it is more comfortable to wear. One common complaint that Convatec heard was that once ostomy paste sets, it became rigid and unyielding which meant it felt uncomfortable under the ostomy wafer and it also felt uncomfortable in the folds and crevices of the skin surrounding the stoma. Not to mention old hard ostomy paste was not easy to remove. Eakin stoma paste is alcohol free and because of this it not only doesn't sting, it doesn't harden. Another great thing about Eakin paste not hardening is, pouch changes are faster. You can apply your pouch immediately because you won't have to wait for your ostomy paste to dry before your ostomy system can be put on.

Eakin Cohesive Paste is not a Glue

Eakin paste is a filler or a caulk and should be used to fill any crevices, skin folds, and/or scars to create an even surface for optimal pouch adhesion.

Eakin Cohesive paste can be used alone or with Eakin Cohesive seals. Eakin paste is a skin friendly ostomy paste that isn't an adhesive, it is more like a caulk. It is to be used to even out the skin so your ostomy wafer has a flat and even surface in order to achieve the best possible seal and adhesion. Eakin paste could increase your over-all pouch wear time. By creating an optimal and even pouching surface this improves the likelihood of good adhesion and helps reduce the risk of leakage, thereby increasing pouch weartime. Eakin paste can also help prevent leaks by forming a water-proof barrier around the stoma. Eakin Cohesive paste absorbs moisture to help prevent skin maceration or skin breakdown. This can help your skin to heal because it will keep moisture away from your skin and the no sting formula won't cause further irritation.
